Air India, which failed to get even a single bidder for its privatisation plan, has delayed payment of salaries to its employees for the third consecutive month, reports PTI.
An Air India spokesperson told the news agency that the employees were expected to receive their May salaries by next week.
Though the airline had delayed the payment of March and April salaries as well, they were disbursed before the seventh of April and May, PTI said quoting sources.
Air India employees generally get paid by the 30th or the 31st of every month.
The April salaries were paid after the airline reportedly raised working capital loans from the Bank of Baroda.
Air India, which has more than 11,000 employees in permanent positions, has run up a debt pile of about US$8.5 billion.
